Storied Walls with Command Products

May 5

There is not a single home I work in that can’t benefit from help to create and hang photos or a wall gallery. It’s sad to see beautiful wall hangings and family photos on the floor, propped against a wall in a spare room or closet. And I’m not one to talk…it’s happening here at my house too! In most cases the moms who hire me suffer from a combination of a busy schedule, not knowing how to correctly hang things on a wall and not everyone has an eye for a perfectly designed wall gallery. Especially on a staircase! I’m sure you can also relate to the desire to update your current frames hanging around the house. *raises hand high* Doesn’t it seem as if right after getting those photos up, they already appear to need updating?! Kids grow too fast!

For me it boils down to my schedule, but I’ve made it a priority to squash the lack of wall hangings around here. And even ordered photos of the kids I had taken last fall. The prints arrived last week and are waiting for frames. You’ll be seeing more on that project soon! I’m excited to finally have beautiful photos of my kids hanging in the front entry. (You can be sure I’ll be using Command™ Products to hang that wall gallery!)

Beyond the struggle of finding the time to order those photos, I believe the biggest hurdle is the hanging process. Thankfully, Command™ Products makes it easier than ever to hang nearly anything – quickly – including wall frames! So when my friends at Command set me off to create a “storied wall” I was on it. No, we’re not talking about the stories these walls could tell you…that’s altogether a different post. #ha We had a very special occasion for my 9 year old last year when he received his 1st Holy Communion. His gift was “stealing second base” from a live SF Giants game…

Yes, that is actually 2nd base from a real professional baseball game. It’s even authenticated, which happened immediately after he ran off the field. What an experience! #imjealous He ran out in between the 2nd and 3rd innings to snag the base (with a little help) and not only did we bring home the base, but the photos are priceless…and professional! This memory required a small corner in his room where he could remember it forever…and the base needed a home as well since it’s heavy and oversized.

This very special boy is a die-hard baseball fan. There was no greater gift or memory more special (yet, at least)!

Creating this storied wall was easy thanks to some creativity and Command Products.

All that’s required is:

Picture Hanging Strips

Mini Spring Clips

Medium Clear Wire Hooks

And you’ll need some fun decor stuff to dress it up…and of course, frames to hang on the wall!

My decor and frames were found on sale at a local craft store.

Did I mention I’m hanging this gallery using only a level? No tools required! #thankyouverymuch

When adhering Command products, your first step is cleaning the wall…a chore that was already more than necessary in his room…

Then I added the photos to the frames and started playing with the wall gallery design on the floor. That’s my tip to a great gallery wall every time! There’s lots of suggestions online for mocking up a wall gallery before actually hanging it. They’re all great! But if it’s a small arrangement such as this, the floor is perfect and simple.

With the layout set, turn over the frames and add the Picture Hanging Strips…

Once they’ve cured to your frame, peel away the wall-side backing paper and use a level to adhere the frame to the wall…

Yep. That easy! Just apply pressure for at least 30 seconds to be sure it’s adhered.

I continued the same process adding the 2 additional framed photos…

Perfection!

I found this grassy “G” at the craft store that I thought was perfect for Graham’s wall gallery. Looks like baseball turf! And the Picture Hanging Strips adhered with no issues…

With a lot of sports fans in the house, there’s a solid collection of ticket stubs…including a few from World Series games. The Mini Spring Clips are an excellent and easy way to showcase your priceless stubs!…

The last touch was adding a Clear Wire Hook to the side of his bookshelf for hanging a special baseball cap…

Moms of boys: we can all relate to the ball caps strewn around the house. This is a simple solution – would work amazing on the back of a door too!…

With a few decor items and things he cherishes in place, it was done!…

I love this wall and don’t anticipate ever updating the photos because this memory is special / unique, but what I love most is that I can easily update any wall frame in the house by using Command products. All you need to do is remove the frame from the Picture Hanging Strip adhered to the wall, update your photo and re-adhere. So easy and no harm done to your walls. #donoharm Should you want to remove the adhesive strips from the wall? Easy! You can see how to correctly remove strips or any Command product right here on their website.

Are your walls in need of stories or a wall gallery? It’s never been easier to do thanks to Command products – No excuses to tackle that project!

I’ve had the Command adhesive let loose a couple of times. I love the idea but I worry about this happening again. Any suggestions?

      Hi Susan!

What is the finish of your wall? Is it flat or does it have texture? The only time I’ve experienced a Command product fall of the wall is when the wall hasn’t been cleaned first, it’s not adhered to the correct surface or if you’re hanging an item that is too heavy for the hook. The weight limits are listed on each product. Does any of this sound familiar? Let me know! Am happy to help! Command also has some great videos on their site.

      xo,
      Sam

I'd Love To Hear From You!
