Beautifully Organized Charging Center

Mar 17

Sometimes when enough is enough, enough IS enough. And finally, you pause to solve the issue once and for all. In this case, it was my tech situation. So this week I considered ideas for how to solve it, executed, and now I have this pretty organized charging center for everything tech.

PAIN POINTS

The list of reasons behind this charging center is long, but the main points for me were:

  1. I wanted it out of my bedroom – especially at night
  2. When I needed to use something, it wasn’t charged
  3. The cords were making me crazy
  4. I’d love to teach my children by example that tech doesn’t need to live in their bedrooms at night

Deciding to organize it in my office, which is downstairs (my bedroom is upstairs), I carved out this little spot on one of the shelves…

Then I spent time figuring out what I would use to stage everything AND conceal the cords.

With the dining room / work space coming together, I’ve been able to relocate some items from this shelf to this cabinet…

Which left me with room to think of something beautiful to contain everything. Earlier this week I discovered this acrylic stand…

( acrylic stand | similar less expensive stand from Amazon )

This is intended for your computer monitor to sit on. They have a version that doesn’t have the drawers, but the drawers are why I was drawn to it. Am sure I’m not the only one who has small tech items that can be contained in these drawers.

Besides the drawers (one which is compartmentalized) I also love its simplicity. I didn’t want something over the top and it blends in nicely…

And fits the footprint of everything I need to charge.

SOOOO, WHAT EXACTLY IS CHARGING?

Good question!

My laptop, ipad and pencil, phone, apple watch, airpods, noise canceling headphones, headband headphones (I use these while sleeping or working out), and our rechargeable lighter is here as well.

In the drawers I added the charging extenders, tech cleaning cloths, and extra cord boxes.

WHERE’S THE CORDS?

Using a multi-port charging hub, I plugged in the cords necessary for all of these devices…

…and concealed them in the magazine holder on the far right…

To keep the cords from falling behind the shelf when not in use, I adhered a few of these

These cable drops blend into the shelf and allow you to pull the cord in / out when needed.

OH! I also used my favorite 3-in-1 device charger on top of the stand…

( charger | area rug | mirror )

This is an amazing charger for travel because it folds into itself and has ONE cord to charge three items. But turns out it works very well in this center too! There’s an open spot for one of the kid’s phones since I can’t use it with my current airpod version – I have an old set one of the kids handed down to me :-).

I am so pleased with this charging center. Only a few days in and every day it gets better. Less tech in my room and everything charged when needed.

Honestly, as much as my job requires tech – social media time, photo editing, blogging, emailing and more – I find myself desiring less and less time on social / devices. And feeling the need to unplug and get it out of my personal, quiet spaces. Like the bedroom.

This charging center is pretty and simple…exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. If you are aiming for the same goal, you can find the products I used linked throughout this post. And you can see me setting it up right here in this video!…

Hope you are having a great week! Happy Friday!

xo,

Sam
