Honest answer: Are you sick of seeing Elfa installs or edits around here? Hopefully not too ill because not only do I have these two from last week, I also have several new designs installing in the coming weeks. Promise you, when it comes to organizing, I am way more than just an Elfa girl…and honestly, I’m getting a little tired of it myself. lol!
More on this soon but…. Am excited to let you know I extended four offer letters last week to four new employees. Sooooo, she may not be doing a whole lot of these Elfa installs or edits on her own much longer. And if my goals play out the way I’m aiming for, I won’t be doing ANY of them at all. Hang tight for an update.
(By the way, still hiring so if you’re local be sure to check out the careers page with more info here.)
Anywayyyyy, we’ve been working with this adorable family of four since last Fall. We helped them unpack and get settled in their beautiful new home, then I organized the kitchen and pantry…remember this one…
We then edited a couple existing Elfa closets and a few other things. This Spring she reached out to share the great news that they are expecting baby #3 and we had another closet to edit, as well as the gym shelving AND their garage. Mom is in full-on nesting mode and I’m excited to help!
SON’S BEDROOM CLOSET BEFORE
Her son is moving from his current room to a new room so that baby can move-in. This was the existing Elfa closet before I jumped in. It was a pretty basic set-up and was missing drawers as well as shorter hanging sections more appropriate for 3 year old sized clothing…
Without boring you straight off the blog, this material is referred to as Classic by Elfa. It’s the older version of their new material referred to as Decor+ by Elfa. Classic still works fine however I’ve noticed some pieces are more difficult to get ahold of. And especially this platinum color. What’s most noticeably different is the top track. Which affects the hanging standards. Classic hanging standards like this don’t work on the new Decor+ top track. You’d need the old Classic track.
At one point I thought they would discontinue it altogether, which would be a shame because some folks who have this version would have a heck of a time editing their existing systems. But recently I’ve been able to get ahold of the Classic material. Hope they keep it around.
There’s more to this Classic material story coming below.
Like I said…am I boring you yet?
Moving along…to the after!
SON’S BEDROOM CLOSET AFTER
The gym, which you will see next, had 3 walls of Classic Elfa material. Mom wanted to edit that space as well so I knew I would have some already owned material to pull from. But I did need to grab a few drawers and gliding shoe shelves.
After a couple hours of editing and organizing, here’s the results…
On the main wall, I added 6 drawers, 3 gliding shoe shelves, removed the hanging rods and added shelves in their place. On the left wall I gave him 2 hanging sections with shelves. And I relocated the mirror to the gym, which seems more appropriate anyway.
Speaking of the gym. We went from 3 full walls of Elfa in here to just this one…
This gym is actually a large closet located in the guest room. Shelving on 3 walls felt really tight and they had little to no movement or air while on the bike. The shelving was coming in from left, right and behind them…so this rearranged set-up (literally) works out a whole lot better…
I’ll share a video soon that includes the full space so you can see it all. But in about 5 hours we edited and organized two spaces. AND we uninstalled the two Elfa walls and sorted the material for future use or sale.
From here we’re moving to the garage. This one will be great! We’re incorporating Elfa on one wall with custom cabinets nearby.
If you want to shop any of these Elfa pieces, you can find them all linked here!…
More projects and topics to share this week, including upcoming changes and growth in this small business.
