This husband and father of two daughters has never had a closet of his own. Until now. And man, is this closet worth the wait!
They moved out of their home for a whole house renovation, which took just about a year. When the interior framing was set, they had me swing by to see the closet footprints; one is hers and one is his. They chose to work with one of our closet vendors for custom closet designs and I love how both turned out. We’ve been helping them get unpack for the last few weeks and his closet was top of the list.
BEFORE
After a day of initial space planning, here’s where we ended up…
If you look closely at the golf shirt section, you can see the hanging rods need to be raised. However, we were dealing with a minor install issue – the rods were placed to low and in a way they could not be adjusted without new holes being created. Therefore, during this session I couldn’t adjust the rods higher. The shirts were draping into the drawers beneath and there was a lot of wasted space above the rod.
We knew this had to be repaired AND he also wanted all new matching hangers. This was, as I mentioned, his brand new, first and only ever closet of his own. Of course we could manage a hanger swap. And still do it on a budget.
AFTER
After rod adjustments and new hangers…it’s truly a masterpiece!
What a difference! Before he had a mix of dry cleaning hangers, wire hangers, plastic and wood hangers, flocked hangers of all types and colors. Now it’s just seamless perfection!
If you’re wondering how I brought this in on a budget, I found the majority of the hangers at Target. And the suit hangers are from Amazon.
He wanted hanger with a black hook so I found these black flocked hangers at Target…

These are $6 for a set of 10 hangers.
I also found these great pant hangers at Target…
( pant hangers )
These come as a set of 10 for $12. I love how they are open on one side which makes hanging any type of pant a total breeze. And they look really nice!
I found suit hangers in a pack of 5 on Amazon…

The closet looks amazing and he has messaged me multiple times since I finished the space to say how much he is enjoying it, it’s so nice to see everything he owns and getting ready could not be easier. Before his clothes were spread out among many closets all over the house. But now he has a closet all his own. So nice! And I was grateful to help pull it together.
Love his golf shirts! And the built-in closet lighting is beautiful. With the rods raised to the appropriate height, you can also see the shirts aren’t draping as they once were…

Hope you guys are doing well and enjoying the first few days of October!
