Warning: This post is photo heavy!
It’s hard to believe this was the same pool/yard 2.5 months ago…
First came weeks and weeks of demo…
And demo removal…
And prep work…
and chiseling to remove the old, cracked plaster…
And spa forming…
Then came plumbing, lighting and rebar…
Did I mention the dirt production? I haven’t seen grass in months…
Then there was gunite! Suddenly the pool was resembling a pool…
Then came 3 loooooong weeks of nothing. Although I was sad to see an empty backyard where no one was working, the timing of the break couldn’t have been better. It would have made for an even more challenging move-in process. Imagine adding a swimming pool crew and their vehicles/equipment to the mix…
The hold up was due to the coping material. But last monday, while I was kicking off my organized home office week, my peeps showed up. Not only did they show up, they showed up big!
Day 1: Monday – Coping was installed….
Each piece was numbered and set in place as if assembling a puzzle…
Day 2: Tuesday – Tile install…
He lined the pool rim with adhesive….
Yup, an organizers dream to see those tiles stacked and sitting pretty…
Love!…
Speaking of meticulous, this was by far the most detailed part of the job. They worked hard for 2 days getting this cobblestone facing just right…
Breaking pieces to fit perfectly, leveling, measuring, placing and then standing back to see it from afar. Repeat x 1,000…
Like the other finishes, these boulders took a long time to haul into the yard. It also took precision to set them in place…
not only flat on one side, but two. A quick call to our pool company and the boulder was replaced a few days later, before the cement set permanently. Not a big deal!
My pool guys agreed it was an odd shape. Guess this is why they’re pool dudes and not plastic surgeons. 😉
days 5, 6 and 7: friday, saturday and sunday – prep work for cement pour….
I must admit, after months of seeing nothing but dirt piles and open trenches throughout the yard, this smooth look was a welcome change!…
Even the surrounding equipment and plumbing trenches are now buried…
I may actually be able to walk around back here…A little bit. Can you believe it?!
More cement prep continued through the weekend…
this week slowed down again. the boulder was quickly replaced on monday…
And I waited for the county inspector to come do his thing on Tuesday morning…
It appears we passed this inspection phase so the cement pour happens this Friday – woot! Can’t wait to snap those shots. It’s going to look even more finished.
As far as what remains? The pool interior (wet edge), final equipment fixes, then my boys add water and salt. And a lot of it.
Until then, we wait. We all wait. Including charlie…
It's really starting to come together, it's fun following along and seeing the process!
