Clutter-Free Gift for Teachers

Dec 14

Here we are, the final week of school before the Holiday Break. Like me, I’m sure you’re busy tackling whatever you can before the kids are home for a long 2.5 week stretch. And one of those tasks on your to-do list may be purchasing teacher holiday gifts. If you’ve already purchased, wrapped and delivered – proud of you! If you’re still thinking about a great gift idea, I’m sharing our clutter-free teacher gifts we are giving this year. And guess what? I’m one of you over-acheiver’s. Our gifts have already been delivered with a big hug and kiss. Don’t ask me how this managed to happen. Well, actually I know how it happened…our gift involved a few things from The Container Store and since I’m there 8 days a week, it was a simple task to wrap up.

With moving three times and advancing from pre-schools to elementary schools (for 3 kiddos), we’ve attended quite a few schools over the last several years. What I’ve appreciated is that most of the room moms coordinate a collection of money which is either handed straight over to a teacher or turned into various gift cards. I love being part of a group gift and this year all of our room moms (I have 3 kids) did this again. But the kids love giving their teachers something small. And their mommy, a professional organizer, loves giving something useful AND clutter-free.

While client shopping a few weeks ago, I wandered through the gift wrap wonderland at The Container Store and stumbled upon this awesome ribbon…

It’s ribbon with a chalkboard finish…

That’s right, you can write on it with a chalk pen! Couldn’t believe it! This would allow me to forego the additional task and expense of gift tags? Sign me up!…

I’ve used it to wrap family gifts, along with a few of my favorite chalk stock gift tags…

But this ribbon is great for the kids to wrap around teacher gifts. While I wrote on this particular ribbon, you can instead have the kids write a personal note on the ribbon making the gift extra special and memorable!…

So what’s wrapped up in the cute ribbon? We purchased my favorite containers to pack their school lunch. We noticed our teachers didn’t have a nice, updated lunch bag or box. And they each tend to bring a salad and sandwich or sandwich and fruit. So this option with 2 compartments seemed like a good choice…

We filled one side with kisses and in the other added a Container Store gift card…

Why? Because what teacher doesn’t need more organization in their classroom…or at home, if they choose!

All wrapped in a cute little chalkboard ribbon!…

Our teachers loved it! And it’s all clutter-free and useful. No mugs, apples or notepads from us this year!

If you’re still searching for a great holiday teacher gift, hope this one is helpful! You can choose the gift card your teacher needs most, but I can’t tell you how excited our teachers were to have a Container Store gift card. Happy shopping!

Fantastic idea!!! As I received your email about this great tip, I was trying to figure out what to get the kids’ teachers. We don’t have a Container Store near us but I am sure I can find something similar close to home. Thank you!

You have great energy and great ideas! Curious of what percent is paid work and what percent is blog and market. Very inspirational to all!

I'd Love To Hear From You!
