My home projects seem to take the back burner more and more these days. But the one refresh I was determined to complete was our back patio. After a long rainy season, I was ready to power wash, have the area rug cleaned and uncover the sectional. I was dreaming of morning coffee and evening drinks / hang out time back here. And very much looking forward to watching baseball and football here as well.
A couple weeks ago I finally made the time over a long weekend to knock it out. It’s now not only our new favorite place to hang out again, but it’s the highlight of Nova’s day!
Last year, in this post I shared that I removed the navy cushion covers, had the upholstery cleaned and added a new area rug…
As we approached rainy season in the Fall, I covered the sectional and didn’t peel them back until just a couple weeks ago.
The cushions held up very well under the cover, but the rug needed a little cleaning so I had that taken care of. When the guys moved the rug, it turns out the concrete also needed a good cleaning. So I spent two days power-washing and now we’re back to enjoying this extended home space…

You guys, I can’t express enough how well this sectional and area rug have held up. Both are from Pottery Barn and still available if you are searching for outdoor decor. Over the years I’ve added sectional pieces and this year I moved an additional piece from our other side yard patio space to make it more spacious…
For my readers who have been here since I first purchased the sectional, remember this space?
Memories!!
Anyway, I’m looking into better side tables, a small coffee table and mounting an outdoor tv. Then we’ll be set for really enjoying this space over the next several months.
Never say never. Little did I know I’d be a cat owner who harnessed their cat. But I’m telling you, this little girl LOVES her mornings and evenings out here. She’s gotten comfortable wearing the harness and it’s so easy to put it on her as opposed to when I first started harness training her. She can sit out here for hours…
I’ve tried several harnesses and this is the only one I tried that she can’t squirm out of. I connected three leashes together to give her a long lead. As she gets more comfortable, I may figure out a longer leash so she can get a bit further into the yard. Those little back legs kill me – so cute!…

It’s become the highlight of my day too if I’m being honest. Seeing her so happy makes me very happy. She’ll always be an indoor cat but this works well to get her fresh air and a little taste of the outdoors.
When I have an update out here I’ll share more. Anyone else working on a backyard or patio refresh?
Happy Monday!! Back soon with more!

Sam
