if you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know that i have a passion for organization and saving money. i also have a passion for teaching and inspiring others to accomplish the same goals i talk about in here daily – reduce clutter and slash your grocery budget…and do both with style!
if you are a new reader, a few months ago i talked about not only saving money by having an organized coupon binder and shopping list, but also different ways in which you can earn money. if you didn’t see my post about the various ways you can earn money – you can find it here! it’s a must-read!
normally i try to list a small batch of items on e-bay every 2-3 weeks. it had been a few weeks since i sold something. last week when i looked at my e-bay shelf in the office closet, i noticed i had accumulated a nice little stack of items. so, i listed 6 items. my auctions ended yesterday and i am happy to report that 4 of the 6 items sold.
now, guess how much i earned by selling those 4 small items?
you did read that correctly!
$543.13!
i’m sure your next question, naturally, is “what exactly did she sell?”. right?….
1. a gently worn pair of men’s lucky brand jeans – $18.38
2. a gently worn pair of men’s tommy bahama jeans – $12.50
3. a set of 2 gently worn pj’s in size 2T – $2.25
4. a tag heuer watch my husband wasn’t wearing anymore – and was purchased nearly 10 years ago – $510.00
it’s simply amazing to me what someone is willing to pay for an item you no longer need, but is still in great condition.
in addition to my e-bay sales this week, i also sold the old set of martha stewart scrapbooks i disassembled last week. i posted the set on craig’s list for $50 and a woman rushed to meet me in order to buy the collection.
not too bad right?
here is my updated money-making total for 2012…
looks like i’ll need to bump up that annual goal! we are inching closer to my original goal of $2,000. we have yet to have our garage sale and i will continue to sell items all year long. very exciting!
i really hope i can inspire, encourage and cheer you on to earning a little extra money!
if i’ve inspired you today, why not head over to e-bay and list a few items. today only they are offering FREE auction-style listing fees and FREE buy-it-now options. so, you know where i will be planted this afternoon – the office listing a few more items. π
if you decide to sell anything, or have a great story, i’d love to hear about it! share it in the comment section and we can chat!
I can't tell you how many things I have laying around that I should be selling! I was thinking of having a garage sale (but I'm having the pregnancy-lazies) or going on a donation binge, but making money sounds better . . . π
hey liz! i do not blame you for feeling lazy – i was the same way when i was pregnant. i think you are about 3/4 of the way there right? if you are, you may get that burst of nesting energy and feel like selling a few things. let me know if you do! i would love to hear your results! but i do hear you – there are times when i give myself a break and just donate it! π
You inspired me to get back in the on the ebay bandwagon and this year already I've sold nearly $700. I have tons of clothes and trinkets to sell. As you know, it's all about finding time to do so with kids. π
i'm glad that i inspired you – and you are clearly doing really well raking in that kind of money! woot!!!
