now that our garage sale is complete, we’ve been spending our free time cleaning up the aftermath. we have a few organization project ideas for this space that we’ll act on soon (and share in here, of course!), including a major floor clean-up.
we have a great garage….and freely admit that we are totally spoiled with this set up…
a lovely 3-car garage and super long, flat driveway. this entire driveway can fit the footprint of our previous home in california. 🙂 we’re definitely loving this while it’s ours.
back to the garage interior.
although we have some big org plans for this space, for now we’ll focus on re-organizing our existing container store shelving and making use of the great vertical space available to us in the garage. we had this shelving in our previous home and brought it along with us. i love it and have no plans to give it up – to anyone!…
that photo was taken several months ago when i spent some time out here cleaning up. when the flooring is complete, i’ll have much better interior shots to share. this shelving takes up about 2/3 of the back wall of the garage.
when there is vertical space to be taken advantage of, i’m all over it. i love have a clean and tidy floor space for vacuuming or sweeping. and we sweep out here a lot. like most families, we have found ourselves with big, cumbersome items that are a must-have…but these items take up a lot of floor space.
stuff like this…
double stroller, single stroller, beach or camping chairs, ladders, golf bags, and more. these awkward, bulky items take up valuable floor space. but now take a look at the same items…
up off the floor and hanging on a long, open wall. these large hooks are sturdy enough to hold almost anything…
and we are so excited to have our floor space back…
do you have any good garage org tips? share them in the comments section!
I love those hooks you have for the strollers, etc. where did you find those? Our garage is constantly a mess with all the stuff lying on the floor. I'm jealous of your three car! my husband keeps saying the next house it's a must just for all the junk!
hi colleen,
i found ours at a local mom & pop hardware store. they were sitting free in a large bin. i searched around on amazon and found something daily close…
http://www.amazon.com/Tornado-J2000-Drywall-Mountable-J-Hook/dp/B000SDETH4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hi_1
tornado is a great brand and comes in a variety of sizes and weight limits. if you are putting them out in the garage, like we did, and have drywall – these would be pretty darn close to what we have.
hope that helps!

Yes..I would love to know where those hooks came from. Thanks!

Love your garage. I'm about to try to get some of our bulky items up on our walls too. I did a post about "Diagnosing Your Garage Clutter" – maybe it can help someone? 🙂

hi mary!
thank you! we love our garage too. but we will love it even more once it's in better shape. it took a beating with the garage sale 🙂
thanks for sharing your post. i'll be sure to check it out!
best,
samantha
We added some of those over-head storage platforms. Two of them are the ones that can be raised & lowered. We keep a lot of our seasonal decorations on those. They work beautifully.
