Hi!
First thing, I need to say is a HUGE thank you! I received so many positive, supportive comments, responses and emails after my post last Monday. I am sincerely touched. And the responses I received only confirmed that I AM on the right track. Simply Organized v.2026 is going to be incredible and I’m grateful to share everything along the way. I feel really good about walking this deeply truthful, authentic and meaningful path.
Thank you!
On that note…let’s talk about a podcast!

I’ve been thinking about starting a podcast for a while now. Frankly, for years. But the timing never felt quite right. Between managing projects, coordinating my team, and keeping up with content creation…a personal life, motherhood, etc…adding another thing to my plate felt impossible and overwhelming.
As I covered on Monday, I’m intentionally restructuring my business to be more sustainable. I’m moving away from the heavy project management and administrative / office stress that have been burning me out, and I’m leaning into the work that energizes me – lighter-lift organizing, more blogging, and sharing what I’ve learned over the last 12 years as a small business owner. Covering my time being in people’s homes, creating content, working with brands, what it’s like being a professional organizer…and some of the things you won’t believe we see or experience. Good and bad.
Starting a podcast fits perfectly into this new chapter because it’s just the right time. Especially as I am pulling back from the heavy hands-on work. It’s also a way for me to finally talk about all the things I’ve wanted to say for years but couldn’t quite fit into an Instagram caption or blog post.
What I’ll Be Talking About
This is the part I am REALLY excited about. Buckle up! I have a VERY long list of topics I want to share and discuss. And some are going to be somewhat controversial, if I’m being honest.
This podcast is going to be real, honest, and sometimes a little uncomfortable – in the best way.
Here are just some of the topics I’m planning to cover:
Organizing (Obviously)
- My specific methodology for organizing within the confines of your actual space
- Troubleshooting the challenges you’re facing in your home
- Seasonal organizing topics
- How to really declutter and organize
- Real-time virtual video consultation with a potential client
The Real Reality of Professional Organizing
- What it’s actually like to be a professional organizer
- The intimate nature of this work and what I’ve witnessed in 12 years
- Client stories – the good, the difficult, and the ones that ended up like family
- The household dynamics no one talks about (one person cares about clutter, the other doesn’t)
- When your partner doesn’t believe you can maintain an organized space
- The over-consumption I see repeatedly
Running a Small Business
- The real costs of running a business in California
- Setting boundaries and why “no” is a complete sentence
- Dealing with difficult clients and scope creep
Content Creation & Social Media
- What it’s like to be “always watched” as a business owner with a public presence
- The pressure of social media and why I don’t always post in real time
- Affiliate marketing, brand partnerships, and what’s real
- The things I’ve felt stifled about saying publicly
- Blogging
At some point – not sure when this will happen, but it will – I will be bringing on guests. Therapists who work with organizing clients, organizing peers with different specialties, and other experts who can help me dig into the psychology and dynamics of why people struggle with clutter and organization.
I want to go deeper. I want to talk about the uncomfortable stuff – the relationship dynamics, the over-consumption, the ways clients try to push boundaries, the reality of running a service-based business, the pressure of being a content creator. I’ve been holding back on some of these topics for years, and I’m ready to finally say them out loud.
And it will all come from a positive place. This is not going to be negative or gossipy. But I do want to be able to speak my truth and share. There’s so much I have learned and want to share…for both someone listening who is in search of help with getting organized or someone who wants to be a professional organizer and has questions about starting and running a business.

I’m Learning as I Go (And That’s Okay)
Full transparency: I’m figuring this out as I go. I’m currently in the research phase – learning about hosting platforms, recording software, the technical pieces that happen behind the scenes. I have a mic and the ability to record audio, and I’m working through what else I need to make this happen.
I’m not waiting until I know everything or until it’s perfect. That’s never been my approach with anything, and it’s not going to be my approach with this. I’m going to start, learn as I go, and refine and get better each week. The first few episodes might be rough around the edges, and that’s fine. They’ll get better.
If you’ve ever felt paralyzed by not knowing enough or not having it all figured out before you begin something, watch me prove that you can just start anyway.
I mean, looking back…this is exactly how the blog started. I just started writing and let it evolve from there. I learned along the way. Same with my photography skills.
And that’s ok!
What You Can Expect
The podcast will be audio-only to start (though I will add shortly video down the road – need to work on a good backdrop for this). Episodes may be somewhere in the 15-25 minute range – long enough to dig into a topic but short enough that you can listen during a commute or while you’re folding laundry. But who knows, maybe once I get started they are actually closer to 45 minutes.
My initial thoughts include standalone topic episodes, occasional guest conversations, and periodic Q&A episodes where I answer listener questions. The format is going to be conversational and real – just me talking through these topics the way I would if we were sitting across from each other with coffee.
This Is Part of the Evolution
If you read my post about restructuring the business, you know I’ve been burned out. I built Simply Organized around being available for my kids’ school activities and managing complex projects for clients, but somewhere along the way, the “homework” – the behind-the-scenes project management, the endless coordination, the after-hours planning – became unsustainable.
The podcast is part of how I’m building a business that doesn’t burn me out. It’s creative work I can do on my own timeline. It’s meaningful without being physically exhausting. And it lets me connect with people in a way that feels energizing rather than draining.
I’m excited about this. And I hope you’ll come along for the ride.

Help Me Name This Thing!
I’m currently brainstorming podcast names and would love your input! If you have ideas based on what you know about me, my approach to organizing, or the topics I’ll be covering, drop them in the comments. I’m looking for something that captures the real, honest conversations I’m planning to have – but I haven’t landed on the perfect name yet. Sometimes the best ideas come from the people who know you best, so if something comes to mind, I’d genuinely love to hear it.
I’ll share more details as I get closer to launching. In the meantime, if there are specific topics you’d love to hear me talk about, let me know in the comments too.
Excited for this new chapter!
Back soon with more,
xo Sam
