I recylced the plastic lid…
And using a can opener removed the opening of the can…
There was a nice smooth edge. Nothing sharp for fingers to be cut.
I’ve had this piece of paper for years but never used it. I particularly liked the faint white argyle pattern and the light blue color…
I measured the height of the can and then cut the paper to fit…
Then taped one side of the paper to the can and continued to roll it around, overlapping once, until the original label was completely covered…
Finally, I sealed the end using adhesive dots. that way we don’t see a piece of tape on the seam…
A cute little pencil holder! With plenty of room to hold a lot of pencils…or pens…
For this holder I chose pencils because we need them on hand while doing 2nd grade and kindergarten homework….
We happen to own a LOT of pencils for some reason. Think party favors and classroom parties – for many years x 2 children. Since halloween is seemingly right around the corner, I pulled out all of our halloween themed pencils for the boys to use for homework…
If you have small containers like this, think about different ways they can be re-purposed around your house before throwing them away. It’s so easy to disguise them in cute scrapbook paper or spray paint! This little can would also be great for holding q-tips, small office supplies or even as a little vase for flowers on your bathroom sink. the ideas are endless!
wow what a great idea, never thought of using those cans for projects like these thanks for sharing
I have used various sizes of tins when they are empty. Wash, dry and then spray paint with your favorite colours! I use them in my office and in my sewing/craft room. Recycling can be fun and colorful!
You're my kinda gal pal – this is exactly what I enjoy doing. Repurposing items and yet still making them pretty and useful.
Thanks for the comment!
