After a month of not really having a structured daily schedule, I’m quickly realizing it’s time to put one together….And it has to be temporary because we live in a rental house and are moving in about 5 weeks.
Remember when I shared my easy to-do wall organizer made out of post-it’s?….
Well, I still have plenty of the oversized sheets remaining so I decided to put them to good use and make a simple and easy summer calendar for the office.
Yes, you know me – it’s all about simplicity so these instructions are pretty much not even worth explaining. I’m certain you can put 2 and 2 together….And even make yours look much better than mine!
Anyway, I started by making a quick rough draft on a regular piece of paper. Doing that helped me realize I only want this calendar to be week to week because the schedule changes weekly around here. I also wanted enough room to add some daily to-do’s to the bottom if I wanted.
First, I measured out the lines in pencil….
Pencil marks – Done….
Once the pencil outline was finished, I grabbed my sharpies…
Traced over the lines with a light blue sharpie and added a simple header / clip art…
Sunny clip art chosen by my precious 3 year old…
Next up was adding the 7 days of the week…
Done!…
Now for the real fun – Grabbing those colorful post-it notes…
And popping them onto the calendar. Fun times! of course, because I’m a very tired mommy, I added my 3 time-out’s to the calendar first. Forgive me, I’m not usually this selfish…
With the move date coming in fast, I definitely need some time away from the kids. I found 1 sitter that is staying home with the kids on Monday’s. She used to be a teacher and has 6 kids of her own. She is uber creative, which I love when the kids are staying home for that amount of time. Monday’s are now my day to go out of the house to run errands, hit up the market or see a dr/dentist. then i have a younger sitter, senior in high school, that comes to take all 3 to the pool 2 days a week. On those 2 days I stay in a wonderfully peaceful home, make phone calls for the new house, go through stuff in the house, prep for other move related things, etc.
Heaven! ‘ll soak it in while this lasts.
Before I get deeper into this dream, let’s move on.
Finally, I let the kids start feeding me ideas. Our 8 year old reminded me of the free summer movie’s at our local theater. They are always at the same time / day each week so we popped that one up. My 6 year old desperately wants to read as well as his big brother so he asked for a library day. And my 3 year old said she wanted to play with her girls at the pool – typical girl, right?
All of the post-it’s they requested went up…
As mentioned, on the bottom, I have a spot to put reminders for day to day as well…
This week I had a few Dr appt’s and other errands. The calendar definitely kept me on my toes this week. And I need all the help I can get.
The summer calendar is now hanging pretty next to my temporary to-do list over my desk….
Why don’t those post-it people go ahead and just start making wallpaper. Wouldn’t that be something!?
Have a great weekend, friends!
i heart nap time, a thoughtful place)
