In my ongoing quest to extend the life of my super tiny kitchen, I’ve made a small investment that has already made such a huge positive return. Just how small? Here’s a reminder…
Don’t get me wrong, I love that everything is within reach and it’s pretty cozy in here…but I don’t have a whole lot of kitchen cabinet storage. I also had not been able to unpack my cookbook collection, again, because I didn’t have anywhere to put it. And this kitchen doesn’t offer a lot of counter space for food prep.
So, here’s what happened the other day. This cute little wine rack was moved…
Still not sure where it will end up. May end up selling it or putting it outside on the patio to hold plastic pool drink ware and more. With the addition of my new wine closet, there really wasn’t a reason to have this here in the kitchen anymore. It was also starting to become a catchall for random items…
So, I moved it and bought this perfect narrow white 6-shelf pantry rack…
I found it through the Improvements catalog (on sale!)…
And the dimensions were a perfect fit for this tiny spot, as you can see here…
Not only was I able to add more shelving to the kitchen, but now I have a free wall to add a wall hanging….which I couldn’t do when the taller wine rack was standing here…
Once the shelf was set up, I couldn’t wait to add a few items…including my cookbook collection. And I was very happy to free up the counter next to the shelf. Now I have a food prep area!…
The shelf has wheels for easy moving. It also came with a kitchen towel handle and book ends. Perfect!…
Cookbooks, I’ve missed you!…
I added a small basket for fruit, where the kids can reach it…
Extra napkins and a spot for onions, garlic, and other produce items…
Topping it off is the house phone and my goal is to always have flowers up here to brighten the kitchen. Guess where these came from? Yup, my own front yard!!…
If you have a tiny kitchen and you’re looking for more space in cabinets and on the counters, consider adding a shelf like this. It’s a great place to display pretty kitchen items and help you make the most of your space.
Looks fantastic! Great solution. I think the wine rack would be cute outdoors, as well as functional.
thank you!
What did you line the shelves with so things won't fall through?
it's old shelf liner i had from the container store. i cut it down to fit on these smaller shelves.

I LOVE when this happens, the perfect piece that brings so much added space and on sale to boot! I wish I could incorporate this into my tiny kitchen but the layout prevents it. Oh well, we'll be moving within the year, sometimes you just have to grin and bear it 🙂
Absolutely amazing! I wish I could incorporate this into my kitchen, but there's no practical place to put it. You always have such amazing ideas!
