Organized Bathroom Supply Cabinet

Jul 9

There’s a little bathroom closet tucked away in a corner of the master bathroom. My guess is it was intended to be a linen / supply type closet. The previous owner added this during an addition they made to the house. This was also the previous owner that had this as their master closet…
God love them, I don’t know what they did in this space or how they managed to stow away their clothes. Since I built out the master closet (seen here) where I keep bedding and added a ladder shelf to the bathroom (seen here) where I keep towels, this closet was destined to hold extra bathroom supplies. But it wasn’t very organized. It was on the hit list, don’t get me wrong, but wasn’t super important because I rarely go in here…

A variety of items made their way in over time…

And I wasn’t making the most of the space by tossing in those shallow drawer organizers from our previous house.

Oh, and my safe is in here too!…

With a more relaxed summer schedule, I threw the kids outside in the pool (not really threw them, but you get it) and got to work purging the closet. Very soon I’ll be sharing a post about the specifics of how I organize a space, but what I will say right now is that YOU MUST know what you are putting away BEFORE you go shopping for containers, bins and baskets. It’s the smart thing to do in order for the solutions to truly work AND to save you money in the long run.

I sorted and purged (a lot)…

When I knew what was going back, I then went to shop for my containers. Not all of this stayed. I typically over-buy and then return what isn’t needed…

The fun part for me is always cleaning up and putting it all away…

I placed the solutions where I want them to make sure they fit and made sense…

Once my containers were in, I add the items back keeping all of the categories together…

With everything in place, labels came off…

Almost every container in this closet is intended for a kitchen or pantry. But as you can see they work really well in a bathroom too!…

When I organize inside a cabinet or closet, I tend to go for clear containers with no label. You can easily see everything you have. And for the top shelves I used canned food risers!…

This closet is so happy now! I am too!

If you’re wondering what I used to organize this closet, here’s my supply list…
