Simply Done: A Stunning California Closet

Feb 26

A couple weeks ago I had to extreme pleasure of organizing a beautiful master closet for the most precious mom. Seriously, she’s a doll! Her closet was designed by California Closets. So as you can imagine – it’s stunning. But I also loved the simplicity of the space. I love the components and material choices my client chose. Such a beautiful closet!

There is quite a bit of hanging space, so that wasn’t the issue here. The problem was the open shelving. She wanted some hidden storage for the shelves and, of the several bins I presented, I love the one she chose. They are one of my faves!

On her side, I organized the small handbags on a shelf – they look so pretty on display! In the 3 pull-out drawers I added her backpacks and tote bags. The bins contain a variety of items; hats, gloves, workout gear, and more.

My little secret in this spot is actually a clear magazine holder

I used a taller shelf divider to keep her larger bags upright on a top shelf. Easy to see and still accessible…

The final touch on her side was to hang her finer handbags. There wasn’t enough space on the shelves or in drawers, so this made the most sense. I used these temporarily because a friend of mine developed the most insane, genius handbag hanger for fine handbags. Can’t wait to share that soon. In the meantime, these will do it!…

On his end, I left the landing mainly clear for his loose pocket items…

In the island they have one junk drawer – not really containing junk, but you know. Everyone needs a drawer to collect the small items like loose change, small travel items, extra buttons, cards, etc. I love to design drawer interiors. It’s sorta an obsession of mine, to be totally honest. The right configuration changes everything – in the most amazing way!…

Had to share one last detail that was truly the icing in this space. Look at this incredible mirror! It pulls out, pivots, then tucks away when not in use. Genius!

Hope you enjoyed this peek into her beautiful, organized master closet. I swear, with each project I fall in love a little deeper with my job. And the lovely families who hire me!

Happy organizing!

Lovely! I really like the mirror and the clear dividers for the bags – however I really must ask if it is “typical” for people to have so many bags/purses/handbags – there must be over 20! Do people really have this many – how can they possibly use them all? I have one for winter, one for summer. When they begin to wear out I replace them – I can’t imagine switched them all the time? I live on the east coast (boston) where space in house (and closets!) is at a premium so maybe it is a space thing?

I'd Love To Hear From You!
