SO | Home Professional Organizing Website

Feb 26

Because apparently nothing comes easy for this girl + business names {insert sarcasm here}, it took a few months to get going on this very important project. In a recent post I shared my new professional organizing company business name and then immediately set out to grab the matching domain.

Sure enough, it was already taken.

Of course.

Yet not currently being used.

Of course.

I paid a small amount of money to attempt purchasing the domain from the owner, however, turns out the UK-based company wasn’t about to budge. Back to the drawing board I went.

With the help of someone I trust beyond measure, I nailed down the final domain name choice…and then a couple minutes later invested a whole $11 to purchase the new business domain.

Once I found out the owners of SO Home . com weren’t letting go…for at least a few thousand buckaroonies (no big deal)…I started researching names. SO Home Org . com was top of my list. It was available. No, I didn’t particularly love the “org” on the end, but what can I do? It’s a website.

And to be totally honest, no one hires me based on my business name or domain name. It’s still all word of mouth referrals. “Hey, I have a someone you can call. Her name is Sam. Here’s her number.”. That’s basically how it goes down. Then a text shows up in my phone. Next thing I know I’m consulting with a new awesome family. It’s a rare occasion when a new client pops into my life via the website. Did I mention how grateful I am to do what I love? And how much I love these families?

But still yet, I desperately wanted a website for this business. A site that highlights the portfolio of work.

Meet www.sohomeorg.com

It’s my new professional website and it’s being designed / created 100% by me.

Yes, me.

Says the girl who had that huge learning curve with this WordPress site just a few short years ago.

In the fringe hours ( read = super late night ), I’ve been editing and tweaking the site. It’s going to be a while before it’s totally ready to launch.

But I wanted to share it with you. Those who have been with me since day one. Since this business was a glimmer of hope. My dream.

And I can’t thank you enough for following and supporting me along the way these last 8 years.

Yes, I did say EIGHT years.

I have been so super busy these last few months with new clients as well as Container Store Contained Home customers. The website is something I’m working on when I have the time…and, let’s be honest, the energy. As you can guess, neither of those are occurring regularly. But I did want to share this new development so that you could join me.

There will be a blog attached to the site, but the blog is going to be a function of the client gallery. Still a fun view in, and I will definitely continue sharing the client spaces here…but it’s something new you can follow along with. My goal is that this site be way more fun while the other site is going to be more professional. No hard feelings if you choose to stick around here and not join me over there.

I’ll be sure to update when the site is completed. Just sharing this milestone today. And wanted to say how much I miss blogging more often here. There’s never enough hours in the day.

Love you guys!

xx,

Sam

Landing business or blog names and matching domains can be so hard! Glad you got that done now. The new site looks great already!
I haven’t been following your blog very long. I only found it last fall when I was doing research for my dreams to be a professional organizer (but then life got in the way and took a different, but wonderful detour to the Caribean). I did read back in your archives though and I loved watching your business grow in those years of blogging. You deserve it!

Awe, thank you so much for reading through the archives and for your very kind encouragement. Really appreciate it!

You’re right – it’s hard to nail those 2 down…but I managed to get close enough! Excited to continue working on the site and come back to announce it’s completed. 🙂

      xx,
      Sam

Awe, thank you so much! I do have to admit…if you want something, all you have to do is put in the work and it will happen. 100%. I’m definitely making this wish come true… thank you so much! xoxo

  4. Congratulation with you new website, can’t wait to see the final result, I’m sure is going to look wonderful! XO.
