How To with Lowe’s: The Most Incredible Christmas Front Porch

Nov 19

[gkit id=2]Not going to waste a single minute. Let’s dive head first into how this whole off the charts front porch situation came together in partnership with my friends at Lowe’s. Oh, and also because (maybe) I have about 160+ images locked, loaded and ready to share.

No, not kidding.

Aaaaaaaaand could you blame me?? Too much pretty here to not break the internet with this blog post.

Am certain after seeing that image you could care less for a fluffy intro about how “I can’t believe it’s time to start decorating for the holidays!” or “can you believe how quickly the year flew by?!”. We are well aware. Why waste our breath. And I’m sorry but I’ve been on pins and needles waiting to share this incredible front porch with you…so forgive me for shoving / elbowing everything and everyone aside to get straight to business.

I’ve mentioned my partnership with Lowe’s Home Improvement this Fall / Winter. You can see the September project here and the October project here. Am having the very best time working with Lowe’s to create great content for you! But when they suggested I take a stab at decorating an exterior space for the holidays this November = I knew exactly which space and exactly the vision. Knew I couldn’t wait to get started. Knew this would be off the charts amazing.

Mean it.

This also happens to be the one time in my life I didn’t mind finding Christmas decorations available mid-September. Because this is true, that is how long ago this plan started coming together.

MY VISION

My inspiration and vision could not have been more clear for this large front porch…and, more importantly, for this precious family of 3. I was pleased to walk through the aisles of Lowe’s to find nearly everything I was dreaming of. Their website has an expansive selection of Christmas / Holiday decorations too – be sure to check out the website.

The Sam vision included:

small fresh trees with twinkle lights and lanterns cascading down the stairs

a couple pre-lit trees outside with a large pre-lit tree in the foyer

2 topiaries that would last beyond the holidays to anchor the space

fresh wreaths on the front door

cozy layered rugs

a space to sit / get cozy for evening hot chocolate (or wine) or morning coffee

updated white planter boxes with flowers

a lot of candles, lighting and overall warm but classically beautiful

ADD A MIX OF FRESH AND PRE-LIT ARTIFICIAL TREES

Since my vision included pre-lit artificial trees, adding fresh items was top of the list. Mini trees, wreaths, flowers, and topiaries are what I had in mind.

On my first trip (of 100) to my local Lowe’s I found these incredible dwarf swiss stone pine trees and rosemary shrubs

These were perfect for the stairs with some added twinkle lights. Once the season ends, we can plant these around the property ensuring nothing goes to waste. The rosemary smells amazing as you walk up the front stairs!

And just like that, the vision was taking shape…

Trust me and go with it. This is exactly how an organized space develops / evolves in my mind. We start small and build from there.

Lowe’s has a great variety of pre-lit trees that are perfect for exterior decorating. These 2 GE Colorado Spruce trees are the perfect size – 5′ tall – for either side of the front door…

With Color Choice LED lights, you use the foot pedal to choose between warm white, multicolor or a light show…

They couldn’t be easier to assemble…

Only slightly annoyed no tools were required…

These are the perfect height and texture…

You guys know I like to decorate / organize simply and keep it classic, but this space did require warm touches. There will be another blog post coming soon with details about my sweet friend Molly, who came through to help add some warmth. She recently opened a flower business out of her home and added touches of magnolia, white tipped pine cones, pine cone garlands and more. Can’t wait to share her with you soon!

Here’s my girl right here…

For these little trees we opted for simple touches like a ruby red bow…

One of the many showstoppers of this front porch happened just inside the front door with another pre-lit tree. This one standing a modest 9 feet tall…

The Holiday Living Pre-Lit Robinson Fir was the exact size this beautiful entry required and easy to assemble…

You’ll see the final details under the tree later in this post, but I added this adorable set of mini pre-lit Holiday Living trees…so cute with more added light!…

For additional fresh, live plants we chose 3 beautiful magnolia wreaths which were custom made by a local vendor. The 2 small wreaths on either side of the door are hung with Command Hooks from Lowe’s while the large center wreath is hanging from a Holiday Living black metal wreath hanger

To the center wreath we added a satin red ribbon and pretty allen + roth Merry Christmas decoration from Lowe’s…

The perfect, elegant touch that welcomes guests, but still allows the wreath to shine. The sign is attached with flower wire…

Stunning!…

There are 9 white planter boxes on the front porch that were looking a little sad. They needed a little love…

Bringing the planters back to life was no issue with the help of red cyclamen flowers from the Lowe’s Garden Center…

Isn’t it beautiful?!

These flowers are perfect for the cold weather and I’m obsessed with the vivid red in the white planters. Aren’t you??…

ADD TWINKLE LIGHTS, LANTERNS AND FLAMELESS CANDLES

To make the 8 potted plants a little more cohesive we set them inside galvanized buckets, added a red ribbon, pine cones and a little sparkle…

To add sparkle I found these battery-operated LED Holiday Living light strands from Lowe’s…

These offer a built-in timer that automatically turns off after 6 hours – helpful!…

I also wound a few strands into a ball and set inside a couple lanterns for added glow…

Speaking of added glow, when these gorgeous lanterns arrived I couldn’t have been more excited…

These lanterns are a new favorite for all of us! I ordered this style in 2 sizes which were the perfect addition to the front porch…

The allen + roth Outdoor Decorative Lantern is stunning. And I mean that!…

The lanterns are available in small and large sizes – flameless candles ensures safety. The natural wood detail is a great tie-in with the galvanized items and the home’s wood shingles…

Lowe’s has flameless candles available, like these Northlight LED’s which operate on a timer…

This beautiful front porch was begging for a small seating area where this sweet family could hang out, drink hot chocolate or have morning coffee. The empty spot you see to the left of the front door was the perfect space for 2 chairs, pillows and blankets…

ADD A COZY PLACE TO SIT

On the Lowe’s site I spotted the most incredible white adironback chairs from Trex

How perfect are they in front of this brown shingle cape cod? It’s a postcard!…

In my last 2 projects for Lowe’s I have found a great use for the Antique Bronze Wire Basket, and found another reason yet again! These baskets are a great way to contain throw pillows and blankets to warm up…

Yep, these cute and colorful holiday pillows are from Lowe’s too!…

Love the vibrant red Holiday Living Merry Christmas pillow

The Holiday Living Navy Snowflake and Buffalo Check pillows add festive color to the space…

Truly in love with these Trex adirondack chairs. They are comfortable, beautiful and will last a lifetime!…

ADD SOME FINAL TOUCHES

For a few final touches we added birchwood logs, large white tipped pine cones, burlap to wrap the bottom of the pre-lit trees and adorable galvanized gift boxes from Holiday Living

The perfect spot for this set of 4 was under the tree in the foyer…

If you aren’t a huge fan of the writing on each box being displayed, try turning a couple around as we did…

THE FINAL REVEAL

We couldn’t contain our excitement with the final result. I mean, come on!…

Exactly what I envisioned for this front porch and all made possible by Lowe’s! They truly have an incredible selection of holiday decor that will brighten your front porch this season – no matter how big or small!

Now sit back, relax and enjoy all of the final images and details!…

This view gets me every time…

We took photos well into the dark over a 3-night period – no, we aren’t crazy…just crazy in love!…
